Conditions of sale
The conditions of sale presented in this document apply to all purchases made on the www.e-readers.ch website by a client (consumer). The conditions need to be accepted prior to each transaction. Acceptance of these conditions certify to the unreserved consent and understanding thereof by the client. The conditions may at any time be subject to modification. The conditions current on the date an order is validated are those that shall be applied, including all other particular conditions specified on the order (unit price, file format, etc…).
Access to digital books requires a specific application or « Reader » which needs to be installed on the client’s computer. A suitable reading application may be downloaded through the following link: click here.
The digital formats available on www.e-readers.ch
are ePub and PDF. These are standard digital formats which include Adobe protection measures aimed at preventing illegal copying. The eBooks purchased on the website www.e-readers.ch are readable on a range of different devices. For further information, please see under “How does it work? Download eBooks”. We draw your attention to the fact that the eBook formats available on www.e-readers.ch cannot be opened on devices with closed systems like the Kindle, Nook or Kobo Reader. Ordered eBooks via this site, which cannot be read on devices with closed systems, will not be credited.
Files downloaded from www.e-readers.ch
are destined solely for restricted, personal and private use. All utilisation contrary to the laws pertaining to intellectual property will be liable to prosecution.
E-readers.ch brings to the client’s attention the fact that digital files are protected by a security system called DRM Digital Rights Management.Downloaded files may not be freely transferred onto external electronic devices beyond the authorised limits. In general, a file may be read on up to 6 different devices owned by the client, subject to exception as dictated by the publisher. These security devices allow the client maximum flexibility in utilising downloaded files whilst offering protection of Authors, Translators and Publishers rights within digital formats.
The client may not under any circumstance reproduce, copy, modify, distribute, sell, disseminate, publish, share or rent digital files downloaded from www.e-readers.ch.
www.e-readers.ch and their partners namely Publishers and Booksellers give absolutely no guarantee with regard to the content of files, their exactitude, entirety or results pertaining to their utilisation. Neither are they responsible for errors, omissions and imprecision within the content. Furthermore, they may not be held responsible in the event of digital damage, loss of eventual data or indirect damage, specific to or subsequent to the utilisation of files.
2. CONDITIONS RELATIVE TO OPENING AN ACCOUNT.
Within express convention, the opening of an account pre-determines the acceptation of the general conditions of sale. Only persons having reached the age of legal civil maturity may open an account.
All data relative to the client is necessary for the management and processing of their order. Such data may be transmitted to companies that contribute to this management, including those responsible the treatment, processing and payment of orders. Data may also be stored for security purposes, in order to respect legal obligations and also to allow us to improve and personalise the service provided to and information received by the client.
The client is committed to provide true and honest information and to keep their account details up to date.
In the event of a client not respecting the general conditions of sale, in the event of non-payment or the illegitimate renouncement of a due payment, in the case of non-respect of legal statutes pertaining to intellectual property, in the event of actions contrary to the interests of the website, www.e-readers.ch reserve the right within the law, without prior notification or indemnity, to deactivate a client account.
3. PLACING ORDERS, PAYMENT AND DELIVERY
For each order, the current conditions of sale and the particular conditions relating to the order appearing in the product detail should be expressly accepted.
The client pays by credit card. For this, a secure page is provided and the card number, expiration date and control number are entered.
Credit card payments made on www.e-readers.ch are insured by SIX Card Solutions AG.
Once a valid payment has been made, the order is confirmed and can under no circumstance be cancelled or reimbursed. The client then receives a confirmation email containing a link to the download page of the purchased files.
Once the link has been transmitted to the client, there is no possibility of cancelling the order and the corresponding price will be debited from their card. The purchases of digital files from www.e-readers.ch are binding and definitive. They may in no circumstances be exchanged or reimbursed.
With regard to non-digital « real » books, stock availability being subject to frequent variation, www.e-readers.ch
will not guarantee stock levels displayed on the internet catalogue. Any item paid for by credit card that is unable to be delivered due to technical or logistical reasons will be instantly credited on the client’s credit card preceded by an info-email.
The merchandise is will be sent for delivery from our warehouse. Delivery is free of charge for the client. In the case of damaged merchandise received, it is the client’s responsibility to inform the delivery company upon reception.
The recipient of the gift receives an email containing a link to the download page of the offered files. Offered products are non-transferable.

The eBook card is a debit card. The balance in favour of the www.e-readers.ch customer and his partnered bookshops is stored on the card. Use of the eBook card is valid exclusively on www.e-readers.ch .
eBook cards are available for purchase in partnered bookshops or online at www.e-readers.ch. Prices are set at CHF 20, CHF 30 or CHF 50. eBook cards cannot be recharged.
eBook cards purchased in a bookshop need to be activated by the staff. The eBook card is valueless until activated at the checkout. Once activated the eBook card is valid exclusively on the entire www.e-readers.ch product range.
For eBook cards purchased online, the customer will receive the eBook card by email in the form of a credit voucher. This may be printed out or transferred to a third party.
eBook cards are valid for up to 36 months following the date of purchase on www.e-readers.ch.
eBook cards are not personalised and are transferable until used for the 1st time on www.e-readers.ch. Hence the card works in a similar way to cash. In case of loss, theft or damage the card will not be replaced.
The balance on the eBook card will not be subject to interest.
The 13 digit activation code and 4 digit PIN should be entered in the appropriate field when making a purchase on www.e-readers.ch
The remaining balance is carried over on the card and cannot be repaid in cash, nor exchanged for vouchers or credited to a credit or debit card.
If a payment is unable to be processed due to a technical malfunction, www.e-readers.ch reserve the right to refuse an eBook card payment in individual cases.
The prices shown on the www.e-readers.ch include all taxes in Swiss francs.
5. COPYRIGHT PROTECTION
The content of files downloaded from www.e-readers.ch are protected by Swiss intellectual property legislation as well as the equivalent international laws.
Content is exclusively destined for private use. Reproduction, publication, modification, adaptation, copies or other representations as well as sale or hire of said content is expressly forbidden.
6. TERRITORIAL RIGHTS
Certain works are subject to territorial rights, meaning that their sale is not permitted in certain countries. These rights are mentioned during each order should a restriction apply. Each order is subject to an automatic control. If criteria exist by which an order does not comply with territorial rights the sale will not be completed.
All reproduction, representation, modification, detriment or commercial use of any part of the website without the express permission beforehand of www.e-readers.ch, is strictly forbidden.
The services offered on www.e-readers.ch
are accessible 24 hours all year long. E-readers.ch will not be held responsible however, for any eventual damage of any nature that may be brought about due to temporary closure of all or part of the website in the event of network problems or other technical reasons.
and their publishing and bookselling partners may in no circumstance be held responsible in the case of data uploaded by the client being rerouted by a third party or if erroneous data is imported or installed unknowingly by them. www.e-readers.ch will however, engage in every effort to provide maximum security for the website.
All complaints concerning deliveries or downloads should be sent by email to firstname.lastname@example.org within 5 days of reception of merchandise.
In the case of any defect of merchandise pertaining to a home delivery, the client may present themselves within 5 days of the delivery at the bookshop where the order took place for exchange or reimbursement of said merchandise.
The general terms and conditions of sale are subject to the jurisdiction of the « Tribunal de la Sarine » (Fribourg) which is exclusively held competent in judging any and all litigation or contestation between www.e-readers.ch and a client.
10. LEGAL DISCLAIMER
e-readers.ch uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are small pieces of data placed on your computer to help the website analyse how visitors use the site.
The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States . Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
